Frequently Asked Questions

Booking a local event? Here are answers to the most common questions asked about NeuroSpace Fun.

What age group is NeuroSpace Fun designed for?

We specifically designed it for 10 to 13 year olds. That’s the sweet spot where they have the attention span for the science and the fine motor skills for the hands-on work.

What does a typical session look like?

Each session is a 2-hour hands-on neuroscience mission. Kids become NeuroSpace Cadets and work with Commander Zarah & Gigi-9 to defend the brain from alien invaders. They learn real brain science while completing exciting, interactive missions inside our large, black, inflatable tent, which creates a mysterious alien lab atmosphere.

Are the materials safe for children?

Yes, all materials are completely safe for ages 10–13. Kids are provided with aprons, polyurethane gloves, and safety goggles. We only use child-safe plastic disposable scalpels and preserved specimens from a trusted science supplier.

Is there a break during the 2-hour session?

Yes, we take a quick 10-minute break halfway through. The break will be outside the tent for bathroom and snacks. You’re welcome to bring snacks and drinks for your child, but please avoid anything with peanuts, tree nuts, or sesame, as some children may suffer from severe allergies. Safe options are things like fruit, cheese sticks, pretzels, or goldfish. Food and drinks are not permitted inside the tent at any time.

What is your maximum number of kids?

Birthday parties:         12 cadets
Homeschool groups: 18 cadets
Community centers:  18 cadets
Schools:                         25 cadets

What if my child is squeamish or has sensory issues?

The sheep brain specimens are preserved in a solution that has a mild chemical smell. If your child is very sensitive to even faint odors, this program may not be the best fit for them.

What do you need from me before the event?

You only need to provide a flat, open grassy area of at least 500 square feet. We bring everything else. If your space isn’t big enough, we can set up at a nearby park or public grassy area. However, if that location requires a reservation or permit, you must obtain it and provide a copy to us at least two weeks before the event.

Booking, Cancellation, & Rescheduling Policy

We require a minimum of 6 weeks advance notice to book an event. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to hold your date. The deposit is non-refundable if the event is cancelled within 30 days of the scheduled date.

What if it rains or there is bad weather?

We only cancel for severe weather (lightning or heavy storms) or if the facilitator is ill. If we must cancel, you will receive a full refund of your deposit or we will reschedule your event at no extra charge.

Can parents stay and watch the session?

Parents are welcome to watch from outside the tent. We ask that they do not sit inside during the session so the children can stay focused and we can keep the tent at a comfortable temperature.

What is your photo and video policy?

We love when parents take photos! You’re welcome to take pictures before we start and after we finish. During the session, we ask that everyone stays off their phones so the kids can stay fully focused and immersed in the mission.

Do you offer private parties or only group events?

We offer both! We welcome private birthday parties, small homeschool groups, and larger events for community centers and schools.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Zelle, Venmo, and credit/debit cards. After you book, you’ll receive a secure payment link through Stripe.
